John Madower joined CFN following a 37-year career as an Aerospace Engineer in the Royal Canadian Air Force and three years as a Public Service executive with Transport Canada and the Canadian Coast Guard. A veteran of both the First Gulf War and Afghanistan, John commanded at the squadron and wing level and served in senior engineering, procurement, operational, training, and personnel staff positions at operational and national headquarters. He has a strong background in aircraft maintenance and engineering as well as Maritime Helicopter and NORAD operations. His military career culminated with his service as the Director General leading the Maritime Helicopter Project and finally as the Chief of Programme for the Department of National Defence, where he oversaw the department’s annual business and procurement planning. John holds a baccalaureate in Mechanical Engineering from the Royal Military College and a Master of Public Administration from Auburn University. He is a graduate of the United States Air Force Air Command and Staff College as well as the National Strategic Studies Program at the Canadian Forces College in Toronto.
