Lieutenant General Patrick J. (Paddy) O'Donnell CMM, CD, (Ret'd) joined the CFN Partnership on 1 April, 1998 following a distinguished 36-year career in the Canadian Forces and three years as the Director of Business Planning with SPAR Aerospace Ltd.

At the time of his retirement from the Canadian Forces in 1995, LGen O'Donnell was serving as the Vice Chief of Defence Staff. During his career he had extended flying tours in Air Transport and Maritime operations, served as a Squadron Commander, Base Commander and the Commander of Maritime Air Group. As Commander of Canada's Northern Region (1987-89) he was responsible for Canadian Forces Northern Operations and liaison with the Governments of the Northwest Territories and the Yukon. He also served abroad in tours at NATO's AFCENT HQ in the Netherlands and as a faculty advisor at the NATO Defence College in Rome. In 1990 LGen O'Donnell was appointed Deputy Commander of Air Command from which he was promoted to the Three Star level and appointed Assistant Deputy Minister (Personnel) at National Defence Headquarters.

As Vice Chief, LGen O'Donnell was responsible for departmental resource management and strategic planning for the Canadian Forces. These responsibilities included the formulation of the Defence Department's management renewal and re-engineering programs as well as its operational and capital equipment models. With SPAR Aerospace he was similarly engaged in strategic business planning, principally with SPAR's Aviation Services Division.

He served as President of the Canadian Defence Industries Association from September 2000 to April 2005.

LGen O'Donnell is a graduate of Queen's University (Economics), the Royal Air Force Staff College and the NATO Defence College (Rome).

He brings to CFN extensive operational and management experience and expertise to assist clients in assessing and prosecuting business opportunities in domestic and international security and defence markets.
