For over 35 years, Dr. Pietro A. de Meo has worked in the electronics, informatics and software fields in the academic, public sector and business arenas, in Europe and North America.
During his three years as a Junior Staff member (Data Handling Division) with SELENIA in Rome (1963-66), he designed and developed special purpose computers for military and space applications, the latter with the European Space Research Organization and the European Launcher Development Organization. In the period 1966-69 with the European Organization for Nuclear Research in Geneva, he managed a laboratory of 40 multinational highly skilled professionals. From 1969-80, first as the General Secretary and then as Vice Director General of ITALSIEL of Rome, the largest company of the FINSIEL Group, he was instrumental in providing the leadership for that software company's growth. From 1980-82 as the first President of IC Soft, a new subsidiary of the FINSIEL Group, he led the company in the development of its advanced software products for the aeronautic and automobile industries. In that capacity, he established an affiliation with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the United States; led a software research consortium of IC Soft, the University of Naples and AERITALIA; and served for 2 two-year terms as the private industry member on the University of Naples' Board of Directors.
As President of his own company, International General Investments, since 1992, he has worked at establishing collaborative projects between his former employer, FINSIEL, and major software companies in the United States and Europe, and acted as Chairman of the consortium of FINSIEL and IBM responsible for a $40 M contract with the Italian Department of Tourism. As Vice-Chairman of IC Soft, he has facilitated the mergers of numerous subsidiaries of the FINSIEL Group, which today has 8,000 employees and sales of £1.2 billion annually in the 10 main subsidiary companies.
With over 25 years of experience as an executive in the second largest software company in Europe, he brings to the table considerable experience in organizational and managerial problems at the corporate level, in initial development and growth subsidiaries, and in the establishment of relationships with customers, in government and industry, at home and abroad.
Dr. de Meo is a graduate of the University of Rome (Doctorate in Electronics Engineering, 1963) and the Harvard Business School (Advanced Management Program, 1974), and is fluent in English, French and Italian.
