LCol G.J. (Jerry) Bourque (Retired) joined the RCAF in 1964 under the Regular Officer Training Plan, graduating from the Nova Scotia Technical College in 1969 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Mechanical). This was followed by a Master of Engineering (Mechanical) in 1971 while on leave without pay from the Canadian Forces, on a scholarship from ALCAN. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.

Lt Bourque began his Forces career with short tours at Shearwater, Defence Research Establishment Valcartier and the Aerospace Engineering Test Establishment, Cold Lake. This was followed by maintenance positions at Canadian Forces Bases Greenwood and Bagotville where he was promoted to the rank of Major.

Following graduation from the Canadian Forces Command and Staff College in 1982, Maj Bourque was posted to the NATO AWACS Agency in the Netherlands where he was promoted to LCol. He received an MBA from Boston University.

In 1986, LCol Bourque returned to National Defence Headquarters, in charge of third line support for Maritime Aircraft. He subsequently was the Systems Engineering Manager on the New Shipborne Aircraft (NSA) Project until the project was cancelled in 1993. LCol Bourque subsequently served in several Headquarters directorates and in 1995, he was named the Project Manager of the new Maritime Helicopter Project (MHP).

In 1996, after 31 years in the Canadian Forces, LCol Bourque accepted a position with Boeing Canada Technology (Arnprior Division) as the Deputy Project Manager for Boeing's bid on the Canadian Search and Rescue Helicopter (CSH) project. In 2000, he took over as Manager, Maritime Projects in the Boeing Ottawa office, a job which led him back to the MHP.

Jerry joined CFN Consultants in July 2004.
