Gavin Scott retired from the Canadian Government Public Service in 2001, after some 30 years in the federal government defence procurement sector. He subsequently spent nearly two years as Executive Vice President of the ADGA Group, an Ottawa based Engineering and Consulting firm which specializes in providing engineering services to the Canadian Government. His wide experience includes all procurement management aspects related to the acquisition and project management of major defence weapons systems and for their in-service support requirements primarily on behalf of the Canadian Army, Navy and Air force, but also for and with many other Departments and Agencies including Transport Canada, RCMP, Canadian Commercial Corporation (CCC) and Canadian Air Transport Security Authority(CATSA).
Prior to joining the ADGA Group, Mr. Scott was Senior Director Aerospace and Electronics, of the Department of Public Works and Government Services Canada. In that capacity, he was responsible for all major Defence Aerospace acquisition and in-service support procurements, including; the Maritime Helicopter, the Search and Rescue Helicopter, the CF-18 and CP-140 Modernization, Tactical Command, Control & Communication System, System Support Contracts, and Navy Support Contracts such as the Frigate and Trump Ship Combat System Support.
Mr. Scott joined the Department of Supply and Services in 1971 as a member of the Departmental's Intern Procurement Officer Program. He held progressively more responsible positions in the procurement field including several Major Crown Projects. As Senior Director of the Canadian Patrol Frigate Project, Mr. Scott was responsible for all procurement and business management for over $7.0 Billion in contracts.
During his career, Mr. Scott was also involved as an interdepartmental project member within the CF-18, the SAMSON, and the LRPA(CP-140) Major Crown Projects. In doing so, he was posted to and managed Departmental offices in St. Louis, Missouri, and Saint John, New Brunswick for the CF-18 and CPF Projects, respectively.
Mr. Scott is a graduate of McMaster University in Hamilton (Engineer) and the National Defence College in Kingston. He is a member of the Professional Engineers of Ontario.
