Dean Dring retired from public service in 2005 after over twenty three years with both the Federal government and the Province of British Columbia. His governmental career focused on economic and industrial development. His private sector experience emphasized marketing and market development.

He joined the Province of British Columbia in July 1978 and spent the majority of his time working with companies involved in the aerospace, marine, health, communications and advanced technologies sectors in increasing their competitiveness by means of trade missions - North and South America, Asia and Europe - joint ventures in the aerospace and health care sectors as well as accessing industrial benefits through various Major Crown Projects includinng CAATS, the New Fighter Aircraft, The Canadian Frigate Program and the North Warning Program amongst others.

After a brief sojourn in the private sector he joined the Federal government in 1998 with Revenue Canada and susequently was seconded to Western Economic Diversification Canada where he continued his work in economic and industrial development. He was actively involved in supporting the aerospace and marine sectors as far as IRBs were concerned. He was also active in the tourism sector and in particular the cruise ship area and regional development initiatives on Northern Vancouver Island.

His diverse experience has allowed him to acquire a wide range of industrial contacts and knowledge as well as significant exposure to governments at all levels including a broad range of contacts within the Federal context.
